Two Police Orderlies, Driver sh0t as gunmen k!dnapped Former Lawmaker, Children inside Church
Two police orderlies attached to former House of Representatives member Joan Onyemaechi, along with her driver, were killed on Tuesday evening when bandits abducted her and her children in Asaba, Delta State.
The gunmen attacked Onyemaechi’s church, King Jesus and I, on Ogajifo Street off DSB Road. They shot the two police orderlies and her driver before taking Onyemaechi and her children. Reports indicate that a stray bullet also struck a passerby, who died immediately.
“The gunmen stormed the church and immediately shot at the police orderlies and the driver. They drove the lawmaker away in her SUV and fired indiscriminately in the street. Unfortunately, a stray bullet hit a young man who died on the spot.”
Onyemaechi, who recently resigned as Commissioner for Technical Education under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to allow her younger brother to run for chairmanship in the recent council election, was taken by the gunmen.
Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe confirmed the kidnapping but stated that only one police officer and one other individual were killed, though he was unsure if the other was the driver. “Only a policeman and one other were killed. I don’t know whether he was the driver. They picked only her,” Edafe said.
