Medical Doctor arrested by Police operatives for allegedly def!ling 18-year-old Lady
Osun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a medical doctor, Olayode Akangbe Shakiru, for allegedly assaulting and raping an 18-year-old job-seeking teenager.
The suspect was arrested on Thursday by a team of policemen from Oke-Baale Police Division in Osogbo after the family members of the girl reported the matter.
According to the police spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, Shakiru was arrested while returning to Osogbo from Ipetumodu along Ile-Ife road. The medical doctor has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further action.
The victim, whose name was undisclosed, narrated that Shakiru had approached her while she was walking on the road in Osogbo and offered to give her a ride to her destination. Before dropping her off at Oke-Fia Area of Osogbo, the suspect collected her phone number and promised to get her a job.
The rape was reportedly committed at the suspect’s house at Ilesa Garage area of Osogbo where the teenager had gone to sign the purported job form.
A text message the medical doctor reportedly sent to the victim on WhatsApp, telling her of his intention to secure an employment for her, has been retrieved as evidence in the case.
