Umahi vows to defend Lagos–Calabar coastal highway project
The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has promised to stand by the 750km Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway Project whenever needed.
Umahi made this known on Monday in Akampa Local Government Area of Cross River State during the flag-off of the Calabar section of the coastal highway.
He said, “This project is beyond road construction but an investment. I take responsibility for the costing, alignment and choice of contractors.
“I can defend this project any day and anytime even up to the World Court.”
stressed that this innovative highway project is so significant that only President Bola Tinubu could have the courage to undertake it.
Speaking further, the minister revealed that the coastal highway project was first conceived 27 years ago.
Umahi called on residents of the state to support the contractors, noting that the pace of the project would largely depend on the cooperation of the host communities.
