Gunmen kill four, abduct travellers in Kaduna
Terrorists have attacked and killed two officers of the Kaduna Vigilantes Service who went out in an operation to protect farmers in the Tasake community, in the Ungwan Mayana area of Gayam ward, in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of the state.
A resident, Idris Khalid, told City Round on Friday that the attack, which occurred on Tuesday evening, also resulted in the deaths of two local farmers while scores were abducted including one Amina Adamu who was travelling from Buruku where she took her daughter for medical treatment.
Khalid said their vehicle was forced to stop around 4:30-5:00 pm on a bridge inside Kwaga village of Gayam ward of Birnin Gwari, adding that Amina and her sick daughter along with an unspecified number of passengers were kidnapped, while other passengers in another vehicle managed to escape.
He explained that a group of terrorists started shooting around 11:00 -12:00 noon in a village called Tasake in the Ungwan Mayana area of Gayam ward in the Birnin Gwari LGA.
Khalid suggested that only an offensive joint military operation to the terrorists’ hideouts would tackle the lingering insecurity challenges.
He added, “The National Communication Commission should monitor terrorists’ communication with all fairness and commitment track their locations and assist the security agencies with the coordinates and block their lines accordingly.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, did not respond to calls as of the time of filing this report.
