Ekiti State Government Rocked By Allegations Of Mismanagement, Corruption
Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, faces allegations of mismanaging state funds and engaging in corrupt practices, allegedly influenced by former governors.
Comrade Idowu Sunday Afuye, former Deputy Governorship candidate for the Action Democratic Party, reacted to a video posted by Isaac Fayose, brother of former Governor Ayọ Fayose. Fayose alleged that Oyebanji abandoned projects benefiting the masses for “white elephant projects” aimed at siphoning state funds.
According to Fayose, his brother and other former governors support Oyebanji’s administration solely for personal gains, particularly their pensions. “Former governors are supporting Oyebanji because of their pension… Ekiti state is now receiving five times the allocation it was getting before. There’s nothing to show for it.”
Afuye backed Fayose’s allegations, stating they confirm his long-held concerns. He accused Oyebanji of “buying” support with state funds. Afuye urged Ekiti residents to demand accountability from Oyebanji’s administration.
The allegations have sparked concerns among Ekiti residents, who seek transparency and accountability. Oyebanji’s administration has faced criticism over its handling of state finances and development projects.
As Oyebanji’s administration marks its second anniversary, the opposition calls for a thorough investigation.
