The Rivers State electoral body has put a halt on declaring results for the Etche Local Government Area (LGA) as collation is still in progress. On October 5, voters in Rivers State participated in the elections to select new representatives for local governance. This election stirred significant controversy concerning its legitimacy; however, the Action Peoples Party (APP) emerged victorious, securing 22 out of the 23 LGAs. Advertisement Results were declared on Saturday in Port Harcourt by the Chief Electoral Officer of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), Adolphus Enebeli. RSIEC Declares APP Winner of 22 Out of 23 Rivers Local Governments in Council Elections The first explosion was reported at the APC Secretariat on Aba Road around 3:00 am. A security guard heard a loud bang and saw three black Toyota Hilux vans fleeing the scene. The explosion caused extensive damage, destroying the gate and shattering the windows of the building, while the security building was set ablaze. The second explosion took place at the Obio/Akpor Council secretariat around 3:30 am, with eyewitnesses spotting a black Toyota Hilux and a white Toyota Sienna minivan driving past the area. Advertisements Gunfire was also reported in various parts of Port Harcourt. Unidentified individuals in a black Toyota Corolla were seen firing shots near the Wimpy area, close to the residence of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. Prior to the election, some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) protested against the electoral process, demonstrating at the Department of State Security office and the Government House in Port Harcourt to voice their concerns.
