Nigerians Now United To Fight Oppression, Incompetence Hindering National Progress —Sowore

The convener of the #RevolutionNow Movement, Omoyele Sowore, has expressed optimism about the growing unity among Nigerians to challenge the oppression and incompetence of their leaders, which has hindered the country’s progress.
During a live broadcast on News Central TV, which was closely monitored by SaharaReporters on Friday, Sowore stressed that the Nigerian populace has collectively reached a unanimous consensus.
This consensus, he emphasised, revolves around the imperative need for a comprehensive revolution aimed at dismantling the entrenched forces that have persistently hindered the nation’s progress.
Sowore further noted that a pervasive misconception exists regarding the supposed acquiescence of Nigerians to the rampant misappropriation of the country’s resources by its political leadership.
He countered this narrative by asserting that, contrary to popular belief, Nigerians are, in fact, deeply dissatisfied with the neglect of their fundamental social needs.
The human rights advocate argued that the widespread disillusionment among Nigerians stems from the glaring disparity between the country’s vast wealth and the deplorable living conditions endured by its citizens.
Sowore’s assertions underscore the urgent necessity for transformative change, driven by a collective resolve to challenge the status quo and reclaim the nation’s future.
He said, “One thing I am impressed about is that we have all come to a united agreement the time for action is now and we can’t continue to accept the level of oppression, and incompetence that has damaged the image of Nigeria.
“We did not come to this realisation now; we came to this realisation a long time ago. The only problem as far as I am concerned is that it took us this long to unite to take on our oppressors in a way that they will probably not be able to survive much longer.
“This is great because across the country, north and south, people are united on how to move forward for Nigeria. This is the reason why people like me have been fighting for the last 35 years to bring Nigerians to a realisation that a united front is needed to confront our oppressors wherever we find them.

“People sometimes mistake the complacency in the country to think that Nigerians somehow support oppression or they support corruption. Or they support incompetence. It is not true.”
“Even the fable position that Northern Nigeria is complacent is not true. If you look at the history, one of the most conscious states or cities in Nigeria is Kano. Kano is the home of the Talikawa. They have produced most of the intellectual persons. People like (Abubakar) Rimi of blessed memory,” he said.
Sowore recently reiterated that the forthcoming nationwide protests, scheduled to commence on October 1, 2024, will persist until the Nigerian government yields to the demands of its citizens.
He made this declaration during a Twitter Space discussion hosted by News Central TV, which was monitored by SaharaReporters on Thursday.
