Delta takes steps on minimum wage implementation
Delta state government has taken steps on the implementation of the new seventy thousand naira minimum wage, with a directive for the secretary to the state government and finance commissioner to interface with the Nigeria Labour Congress on its implementation.
This was disclosed by the state commissioner of information Ifeanyi Osuoza during a press briefing in Asaba the state capital.
The briefing by the Delta information commissioner is coming after months of anticipation by civil servants on when the state government will commence the implementation.
The Delta information commissioner, flanked by his counterpart from the health and works ministry, said the state governor Sheriff Oborevwori has approved the immediate meeting with labour to cushion the effect of hardship, this is as the health commissioner stressed on the acquisition of a disease detection machine in the state.
The planned implementation will no doubt douse the agitation by civil servants in the state.
